Owned the farmhouse that was to become The Royal Pavilion.
Built 'The Temple', (now The Brighton & Hove High School for Girls) 1819, and then went on to develop Kemp Town to the East of the town as a speculation.
Despite initial success Kemp was increasingly dogged by financial problems and was forced to leave the country in 1837 in order to escape his creditors.
